Regata del Sol al Sol

Race | St.Petersburg, Florida | April 17-30, 2021 | Skipper: CSM | Boat: Falcon

2021 is the 51st Anniversary for the Regata del Sol al Sol- first dreamt up in 1969 by the then President of Mexico and leading yachtsmen from the Gulf Coast area. Since then the race has attracted competitors from all over the US and Mexico and has seen some highly competitive campaigns take on the 456 Nm course and post some impressive times.

2021 will be the first time Spartan Ocean Racing has entered the Regata del Sol al Sol and we will be doing so with a Bang! taking. The boats that are capable of over 25kts and both can post daily runs of over 300 Nm, this does not guarantee a course record because of course sailing is sailing and weather and fate can conspire BUT if you were mounting a serious attempt to make your mark on this race’s history this would be the campaign to be involved in!

Looking back over the race’s history there have been a number of weather patterns that have dominated different editions but there are plenty of occasions where the order of the day has been steady reaching in 15-20 kts and those are the kind of conditions that really allow these ocean racing thoroughbreds to stretch their legs. We look forward with great anticipation to this exciting international race event.

Do you not fancy the race? Why not join the Mexico Flyer back to Florida? Start your voyage at the Isles de Mujeres, Mexico and sail to Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
