NEWPORT BERMUDA RACE

Join the most famous offshore race in North America. The Newport-Bermuda Race is a 635 Nm offshore race with the longest history in North American Offshore sailing. Although not the longest or most gruelling of races, the dash over to the ‘Onion Patch’ is one of the most popular and highly regarded races in the world.

“It’s a feather in every sailor’s cap to have done the race, and many consider the Lighthouse Trophy the most coveted trophy in distance racing.” – Gary Jobson

The trick to a podium place though is navigating across the Gulf Stream in the most efficient manner. With currents running right to left across the course at up to 4.5 kts and strong squalls each night in the region around that wonderfully warm Northbound flow it is those that understand and use the conditions to their advantage best that will take home the glory.

We will run a four-day training session before the start to bring you up to speed with our high levels of safety awareness and offshore crew management systems and to give you the information you need to be able to push our boats fast. Find out about our 2016 Newport Bermuda Race.

If you have been thinking you might one day do the Bermuda Race-do it in style with a World Class Skipper, a Pedigree Race Boat and Full safety & Deck Operations training- all at a great price. You also have the possibility to sail with us to Nova Scotia after the race and prize giving on the 1st of July with the East Coast Flyer.

For cruisers a different kind of learning is possible- our boats complete a 15,000 Nm Atlantic circuit every year meaning there is no shortage of knowledge on board regarding safety gear, safe voyaging practices offshore, weather routing, operation of modern communications devices and electronic navigation in practice.

The tempo may be slower, the meals more leisurely than a race but the chance to get the most from a passage as a student aboard a famous ocean racing yacht could not be more perfectly packaged.

“With the beauty of the Caribbean, the heritage of the Mayans, and the easygoing charm of the people, Isla Mujeres has become a haven for people from all over the world.”
